CM Punk has earned the privilege of being called ‘The Best in the World’ for various reasons. His influence as a top WWE superstar, captivating personality, and in-ring acumen has made him a household name. However, his recent actions to have a popular series resurrected add to that moniker.
The former WWE Champion was a part of the Starz’s Heels series. He had a recurring role, playing Ricky Rabies. Punk’s character was described as a journeyman in professional wrestling. Despite a small role, Punk actively expressed his desire for the return of the series led by Stephen Amell for its third season.
What did CM Punk say about the Heels series’ return following its cancellation after two seasons?

In a recent interview with Deadline, CM Punk revealed that he was trying to petition for the renewal of the Starz’s Heels series. However, Punk stated that he wanted the series to be revived by Netflix. The streaming platform acquired the rights for its reruns in 2024, making Punk believe it would be a perfect fit for them.
In addition to that discussion, Punk also opened up about the balance of being a WWE superstar and pursuing acting. He stated that he would appear on RAW every week; however, if he needed to film a project, CM Punk would take around two weeks off to complete it and then return to WWE.
It’s a lot easier now. It was harder back in the day because wrestling was the lion’s share of what I did, and I wasn’t allowed to do other stuff. I have pre-existing relationships and projects I work on that are grandfathered into my contract. I typically do Monday Night Raw live on Netflix every week. But if I need to dip out for two weeks to shoot an independent film, I can always do that. We’re trying to petition Netflix to do a third season of Heels.
The Heels focused on two brothers, Jack and Ace Spade, played by Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig, working in their late father’s Duffy Wrestling League while trying to work out their tensions. The show ran for two seasons until its cancellation in 2023.
One of the biggest reasons that led to the series getting cancelled was the low viewership, despite majorly positive reviews from the audience. Another problem was the show being caught in the timeline of Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes, which led to the cast and crew failing to promote the series on a large scale. Lastly, it faced financial struggles, which the producers failed to recover from following the low viewership of the series.
CM Punk had a remarkable WrestleMania season

While CM Punk is actively petitioning for the return of Heels on Netflix and eyeing a huge collaboration with Dave Bautista, he is still reeling from the effects of the biggest achievement of his wrestling career. That came at WrestleMania 41 when, for the first time in his WWE tenure, Punk was a part of the main event of WrestleMania.
The Second City Saint battled in a triple-threat match against Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. Despite a splendid performance, he was betrayed by his best friend, Paul Heyman, who also turned his back on Reigns. This led to Heyman aligning with Rollins and helping him win the main event.
CM Punk has not been seen since the RAW after WrestleMania episode, where he and Roman Reigns were taken out by Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker. So it will be interesting to see him return and exact his revenge on his new enemies.
