Marco van Ginkel is getting closer to his expected signing with PSV Eindhoven, and this time permanently. The fifth time, it’s charm, as they say, right?
The 28-year-old had joined PSV on loan no less than four times before, despite being essentially their player since January 2016, between surgical breaks and training at Chelsea. It is certainly a strange career!
But now, finally, there can be a sense of normalcy, as MvG is set to officially join the only team where it has had any success since joining Chelsea in 2013. According to the latest reports, he has passed his medical examination and is about to sign a “multi-year” contract.

Van Ginkel’s decision was delayed by bureaucratic considerations regarding the official end of his contract with Chelsea, but surely it is only a formality now – as in the case of Danilo Pantić and FK Partizan.
Van Ginkel is expected to join PSV training next week, so we’ll likely hear an official ‘transfer’ announcement soon.
